The food and cocktails are delicious. When we last waited for a free table in front of the restaurant (in October), there was even a sparkling wine to shorten the waiting time. So far, we have found the staff to be very friendly and courteous. Those who like to eat spicy must definitely try the seafood stir-fry - but be careful, it is really extremely spicy!

Watch out. First of all, a super nice place. The food is good and recommended. Whoever wants to speak Spanish will find someone from Colombia among the wait staff. The ladies are very quick, but be careful if you pay by credit card at the end of the evening and don't pay attention, an automatic tip is priced up quickly and without prior agreement. An invoice for the individual items is of course available on request and that should definitely be done so that the invoice is correct in the end. If you pay attention to this small annoying point, the restaurant actually deserves 5 stars immediately and gives you a nice evening.

Best place in Freiburg. Haven't found another Mexican who is better yet. I love el gallo. Whenever I'm around I have to go there. I can only recommend it

Exelent food and staff ?

Very tasty food cooked with effort and served quickly. The service is friendly, nice. Quite cheap between 6-15 euros per meal, the portions are more than enough. I can only recommend the "Coconut Kiss" cocktail (alcohol-free). There is enough space for 6 people in the restaurant. We were really very satisfied.

Friendly atmosphere!

Simply delicious and really inexpensive. The selection of Sepeisen and drinks (cocktails) is huge, there is something delicious for everyone. Price performance really great. There is also a happy hour in the evening from 10 p.m., all cocktails from € 5. We recommend !

Very good Mexican restaurant. We ate well, the portions are generous. The waiter (Yacine) was very friendly and smiling. Please note, the restaurant does not take foreign credit cards and no one told us when they placed us.

Food was delicious. Prices are good. Unfortunately, the staff was very chaotic, forgot orders, one didn't know what the other was doing. We were promised to get a seat outside as soon as one becomes available. Unfortunately, a couple was given the place, who sat inside with us and came after us. Then you shouldn't make such promises if you can't keep them. The English skills of a service staff were also catastrophic. We were a bit ashamed at the next table.

Unfortunately, everything tastes the same somehow. We ordered three different dishes, but they all tasted almost the same. The portions are relatively large and very hearty!

I went there with my wife and the food was okay. My wife had something with rice and mussels which was too salty. Unfortunately, my wheat beer wasn't cold enough! Cocktails are good! We sat inside and the music was so loud that it was impossible to talk. In summer, when it's warm outside, better find a place there! What I found very strange was that you couldn't pay by credit card there. Welcome to 2020 !! ?

The food is delicious. There is a deduction for the staff. Some of them are unfriendly, cheeky and, above all, cannot count. Have often had to do the math here or have to draw the wait staff's attention to the lack of money.

I go to this restaurant very often and I am always very satisfied! The service is quick and friendly, the non-alcoholic drinks are served with ice and lemon - which I love personally - and you never have to wait long for the food. In addition, it comes fresh and hot on the table. Delicious! I look forward to eating here every time!

Loved the Mexican platter. The price to quality ratio is very good. You can also get great cocktails for lesser price than many other similar cocktail bars. The ambience is also great! Would be my go-to restaurant for Mexican food!

They try to sell wine for the price of champagne with some products. The hamon was cheap prosciutto and the price was waaaaay to high. The waiter didn't even listen to our arguments. The nachos were kinda sloppy.

My friends and I went to this restaurant hoping to get a proper Mexican/Spanish experience. As a proud spaniard I wanted to let my foreign friends have a taste of the famous cuisine of my country. We ordered Jamón de Pata Negra. This is one of the Spanish specialities and it tends to be quite pricey. But it is worth it as it is great quality. Instead we got a cheap salty ham. This was fake advertisement and it was a scam as they tried to sell us something that was not for the price of Pata Negra. When we discussed this with the manager he pretended to not know anything and didn’t even listen to us or solve the issue. This is a clear example of absolutely detrimental costumer service. We then also asked for a tortilla de patatas and we got an omelette with some paprika and tomatoes. The manager didn’t even know what a true tortilla looks like.

Food is not accurate. Their are expensive meat but they replace it with cheap meat

Food was ok, the location is quite good. Inexpensive daily cocktails, unfortunately, can have a little more finesse.

Good restaurant, food size is very decent for the price! If not sure what to get, go for the burritos! They are well made. Service and environment were good.

Food was authentic and good but the service a bit chaotic

Food was good, and service was quite quick and friendly. Not original American Tex-mex, but tasty and well presented with authentic Mexican flavors. We did feel kind of rushed, since we showed up without a reservation they told us we could have the table till 19:30. It was pretty obvious though that by 19:00 they wanted the table for other guests. Not a huge deal, and we were glad that they squeezed us in without a reservation but not optimal.

Great food and atmosphere. Had a marvelous time with my friends.

Really the Best Fugita ans Burrito that I ever ate in Germany.

I'm from Mexico City and I'm a big fan of "enchiladas con mole". The ones I ate at El Gallo were not what I expected. The taste was good, but it barley tasted like mole and there was too much gouda cheese which doesn't go with this dish...that was very disappointing. One picture is the enchiladas con mole at El Gallo the other is real enchiladas con mole. I think this is a Tex-Mex version of enchiladas con mole. Maybe they should change their "cocina mexicana" for "cocina Tex-Mex". Hopefully they'll reaserch about real Mexican food (as served in Mexico) and prepare better and tastier dishes.

Nice menu with a lot of options. Plate portions are big, and the price is not too bad. Overall the food is good yet not amazing. The ambiance and service are also good just not outstanding.

Very nice service, delicious food. A great selection of different dishes. There is something for everyone here. There are also inexpensive cocktails in every conceivable taste. There is a point deduction because we had to wait a long time for everything, but the store was also very full. I had ordered a Coke Light, but got a normal Coke.
